We are officially in the dog days of summer. Once you get past the barbecues of July 4, and around the same time the temperature rises over 90 degrees, you know you’re in that sticky, long day part of summer. But fret not, music lovers! There are still plenty of new releases to keep you cool as you sweat out the rest of July.
R&B is coming with some serious heat this week, as The-Dream drops the sequel to one of his most acclaimed albums, and we get a confident new anthem from Coco Jones. Ciara is back with an ode to saying “yes,” and coincidentally, Tank also drops an affirmative new single of the same name (shoutout to Floetry).
Ne-Yo drops the country project he’s been telling us about all year, and we get the latest from Kelela. Bobby V is also back with his newest track, and Bryson Tiller drops a new collab with French DJ and producer, Hugel.
On the hip-hop front, Snoop Dogg teams with Beenie Man, and we get an officially streaming release from J. Cole and a deluxe edition from DJ Shadow. Plus, Evidence joins DJ Premier and Alchemist for a new one that’s made for serious hip-hop heads.
Each week, Okayplayer will deliver a roundup of all the latest new heat from some of our favorite artists. Check out the latest offerings in our playlist below.

KEMAR MCGREGOR W/SNOOP DOGG, BEANIE MAN AND MORE – “FOR YOU”
Built on a sub-heavy, syncopated riddim and punctuated by sleek synth arrangements, this all-star group effort balances the grit of a classic sound clash with a commanding, universal appeal. The rotating roster of featured verses showcases a stunning array of vocal styles.
YATTA BANDZ – “OUTTA TIME”
Serving as the emotional centerpiece of his upcoming project, the track captures the painful realization that love doesn’t always survive despite your best intentions. Over atmospheric production and his signature melodic delivery, Yatta wrestles with regret and unanswered questions.
J. STONE – “UP THE RIVER”
a raw, unfiltered look at what it means to build a career from behind bars; speaking directly to his circumstances — including addressing why the project carries no features or outside production credits. As he explains it, the silence wasn’t a choice; it’s simply that no one reached out. The song turns that isolation into fuel, documenting an artist who was in full motion before his sentence began and who has refused to let that motion stop since.
