Gore’s wife, Britney, shared more about what happened in an interview with WMBB-TV in Panama City, Florida.

“He went in for an emergency surgery. He had his appendix removed. He came out of surgery and was doing OK,” Britney Gore told the station. “And he had some complications after, possibly with the anesthesia, and went into cardiac arrest.”

Gore, who played on the Royals’ 2015 World Series championship team, died on Feb. 6. He was just 34 years old.

A visitation will be held Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Southerland Family Funeral Home in Panama City. A celebration of life is planned for Saturday at 1 p.m. at Highland Park Baptist Church, also in Panama City.

Gore will be laid to rest next week in Georgia, where he grew up. A visitation will be held on Feb. 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Richard R. Robinson Funeral Home in Macon, Georgia.

On Feb. 21, a celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. at the Jones County High School in Gray, Georgia. An interment service will follow at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Lakeside Cemetery in Macon.
