Sabrina Carpenter, known for retro-branding, has recently built a reputation for referencing iconic fashion moments and looks worn by artists and stars who came before her. First it was Madonna’s Marilyn Monroe look, then it was Shirley MacLaine in “What a Way to Go!” And just last week at the 2025 VMAs, she did it again. In addition to her many other references that evening (including Britney Spears), Sabrina revived a 50 year old dress originally created for and worn by Cher in 1975, during an episode of the Cher Show featuring Tina Turner.
