In the Dragon Ball Daima anime series, Supreme Kai returns to accompany Goku and company on their adventure through the Demon Realm. While Daima voice actor Yumiko Kobayashi acknowledges that Kai is not the star of the show, she does believe that he has an inner complexity that is often overlooked by viewers.
Kobayashi discussed this subject, among others, during a joint cast/staff interview created for Dragon Ball Daima‘s official Japanese Blu-ray release.
