
The Cockroach Janta Party’s protest in the National Capital has gained widespread attention. Several actors, including Shabana Azmi, Sonu Sood, Prakash Raj and Riteish Deshmukh have also come out, expressing their support and condemning the violence that took place during the Jantar Mantar march on July 20th. Sonu Sood has publicly backed the CJP-led student protests, urging authorities to treat students with empathy rather than force. The actor said young people deserve to be heard and called for a fair resolution to concerns surrounding alleged NEET irregularities.

Veteran actress Shabana Azmi visited Jantar Mantar ahead of the CJP’s Chalo Sansad march and addressed the gathering. She stressed that peaceful protest is a constitutional right and urged authorities to listen to the concerns of students. Visuals of her interacting with protesters also went viral.

Dia Mirza criticised the reported use of force against student protesters and appealed for peaceful dialogue. She maintained that students raising concerns should be listened to rather than suppressed, adding that compassion must guide the response to the protests.

Prakash Raj spent time with protesters at Jantar Mantar and was among the most vocal film personalities backing the movement. Carrying the Constitution and addressing the crowd, he said speaking the truth should never be feared and called for accountability from those in power.

Swara Bhasker also visited the protest site during Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike and met both Wangchuk and CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke. She later shared her support online, thanking the organisers for “fighting for the future of all our children.”

In a long note on his social media, Diljit Dosanjh condemned the violence witnessed during the protests and called on authorities to engage with the students’ demands. He said students should not be mistreated and appealed for a peaceful and constructive resolution.

Riteish Deshmukh expressed solidarity with the CJP’s “Sansad Chalo” protest, saying that the country’s youth deserve to be heard. He urged people to support and empower students instead of ignoring their concerns.

Genelia Deshmukh also joined her husband Riteish in backing the movement, saying young people represent the future of the nation. She appealed for empathy and encouraged society to listen carefully to the voices of protesting students.

Richa Chadha recently shared a strong post recently and seemingly backed CJP. “Don’t confuse momentum with the men supposed to be leading it. Your feelings, demands, and desires are valid, legitimate and reasonable. Your interest in your own future is rational; your rage is real,” she wrote.

Comedian-actor Vir Das voiced support for the movement by encouraging fellow artists to speak up on issues affecting students. He stressed that remaining silent during a youth-led movement would be a missed opportunity to stand for accountability and justice.
