Paul Bettany and Ruaridh Mollica rumored for Avengers: Secret Wars
According to entertainment scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Paul Bettany and Ruaridh Mollica are both expected to appear in the film in role. On X (formerly Twitter), entertainment scooper MyTimeToShineHello wrote, “Paul Bettany and Ruaridh Mollica will both be in Avengers Secret Wars in main roles.” However, as of now, Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed the involvement of either actor.
Rumors about Bettany’s potential involvement in Avengers: Secret Wars have gained traction in recent months. However, the actor himself has also hinted that a return could be on the cards. During an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Bettany was asked directly whether Secret Wars might be part of his future.
“I think so,” he said, before noting that plans within Marvel can change unexpectedly. The actor noted, “Anything going on at Marvel, they change their mind, or you really do never know. It’s true that you never know, by the way.” Bettany also highlighted the level of secrecy surrounding Marvel productions. According to the actor, “when we all died [in Avengers: Infinity War], we found out that day.”
Bettany had already sparked discourse among fans earlier in December 2025 when he appeared to reference upcoming Marvel work during The Telegraph interview. At the time, he remarked, “I think I’ve got some Avengers duties next year,” a comment that immediately fueled theories.
Marvel’s next major crossover film, Avengers: Doomsday, is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026. It will be followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, which is currently set for release on December 17, 2027.
