It may be a visual medium, but the soundtrack is a movie’s lifeblood. After all, it would be pretty weird if the audio experience of every movie was just people talking, their clothes rustling and ambient noise from the freeway outside. Of course, the best soundtracks enhance the action, not distract from it. It’s still a largely optical thing.
Nevertheless, some needle drops are so iconic that they’re inextricably linked to the movie and/or scene they were featured in. For Redditor Green_girl19, it’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” by Whitney Houston, as it appeared in 13 Going on 30, and the scene in We’re the Millers featuring Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion.”
They then asked r/AskReddit, “What’s a song that immediately makes you think of a movie?” and their fellow Redditors provided all kinds of tunes in return.
