Mahindra and Mahindra is all set to launch the much anticipated Mahindra XEV 9s electric SUV in the Indian market on November 27, 2025. The company has been steadily building anticipation for the SUV, with each teaser revealing new features and design highlights. In its latest clip, Mahindra has once again dropped another teaser, this time confirming the presence of triple screen layout at front and also rear passenger entertainment screens. The new XEV 9s is expected to serve as the electric alternative to the XUV700 ICE.The teaser reveals a pair of rear-facing displays, and the caption ‘Space for Everything’ suggests that the XEV 9S will feature rear passenger entertainment screen holders similar to the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) setup offered in the XEV 9e. The Mahindra XEV 9S will be underpinned by the company’s INGLO born-electric skateboard architecture, which also forms the basis for the XEV 9e and the BE 6. Although it is likely to retain some of the overall proportions of its ICE counterpart, the XEV 9S is anticipated to showcase a unique styling approach, a more advanced, tech-focused interior, and the performance benefits of a fully electric powertrain.
The Mahindra XEV 9e and BE6 feature a fixed panoramic roof with ambient lighting. However, the XEV 9e will feature an openable panoramic sunroof similar to the one available on the ICE-powered XUV700. The model will also feature reclining seats in the middle row, rear AC vents, along with a Boss Mode function, which allows the rear passenger to electronically move the front passenger seat forward. Combined with the reclining backrest, this setup enables occupants to stretch out and enjoy a more relaxed, chauffeur-driven experience. Design-wise, it features a closed-off grille, a full-width LED light bar, and triangular LED headlamps. On the sides, its silhouette remains largely similar to the XUV700, but with subtle refinements, including aerodynamic alloy wheels, flush door handles, and gloss-black cladding around the wheel arches. At the rear, the SUV is expected to feature connected LED taillights, a reworked bumper, and skid plates.
The Mahindra XEV 9S is expected to share most of its equipment with the XEV 9e, packing a long list of premium and tech-loaded features such as ventilated and powered front seats, multiple wireless chargers, dual-zone climate control, connected car tech, multi-colour ambient lighting, Harman Kardon audio system, head-up display, groove me mode, remote parking capabilities, and more. Safety-wise, it’s expected to get Level 2 ADAS, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, TPMS, and more.It’s expected that the XEV 9S will feature the same powertrain setup as the XEV 9e and BE 6, since all three SUVs share Mahindra’s INGLO platform. The two battery pack options include a 59 kWh unit and a larger 79 kWh pack. Power output is likely to stand at 231 PS and 286 PS, respectively, with 380 Nm of torque available in both variants. Based on figures from the XEV 9e, the claimed range could span from 542 km to 656 km (depending on the battery configuration), with both versions featuring a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) setup.
