But 2025 didn’t go the way some creatives had hoped. Film LA said shoot days in Los Angeles were down by 13.2% in the third quarter of this year compared to 2024.
On top of that, technology continues to change the landscape for workers.

But it wasn’t all doom and gloom this year.
The 2025 box office totals are expected to surpass 2024, and Gov. Gavin Newsom more than doubled tax breaks for projects in the film and television industries to help grow jobs and keep more production in California.
Heather Fink is a filmmaker who works as part of the sound crew for ABC’s hit TV show, “Grey’s Anatomy.”
She said that while the industry is facing challenges, many creatives are continuing to power through and keep working in a field that they love.
Dominic Patten, who’s the executive editor for Deadline.com, said change in the media landscape has remained constant for decades.
