(WIVT/WBGH) – A local singer is once again using her platform to help emerging musicians find their voice.
Allie Torto’s online singing competition ‘Virtual Voices’ is returning for its fourth season.
The contest offers participants a unique chance to collaborate with Torto. Participants will use the Smule app to submit a video of themselves singing any song of their choice. Then, Torto will choose 30 people to duet with. She will later post those videos to Facebook, and the community can vote for the winner.
Submissions open November 1.
Torto says past contestants have benefited from exposure on her page. She says the competition takes the pressure off of singers looking to pursue music.
“It’s just another avenue for them to use. The people who are watching and voting, a lot of those people have platforms and things that they can share these people’s songs on or offer them gigs and more opportunity as an artist. There’s no reason to not take advantage of more platforms and more exposure for yourself if you have that available to you,” said Torto.
Torto is accepting submissions from November 1 through November 10. To register, visit allietorto.com/virtual-voices.
In addition to Virtual Voices, Torto is also participating in Tioga United Way’s Dancing United with the Starz competition on November 8. The competition will take place at 7 p.m. at Tioga Downs. For more information, visit Tioga United Way on Facebook.
