Downtown Tempe shaped to fit changing, diverse population
Tempe has seen an influx of new restaurants, entertainment and retail shops that have diversified the downtown area over the last year.
From downtown to Phoenix’s northern communities, new commercial and economic developments are popping up around the city.
For Valley residents, that means more employment opportunities, as well as options for shopping, dining and entertainment.
In the coming months, Phoenix is set to have a new family-friendly attraction downtown, and a new industrial center within the Deer Valley community.
Soon afterward, residents in the midtown arts district are expected to have a new retail and restaurant complex join their neighborhood.
Here are three projects Phoenix residents should keep an eye on:
The Escape Game
The Escape Game, a Tennessee-based escape room company, is moving into the CityScape mixed-use development in downtown Phoenix.
When open, the immersive attraction will accompany the center’s shops, restaurants and entertainment spaces by replacing the longstanding clothing store Urban Outfitters.
At Escape Game, families and friends can become characters in hour-long adventures, where they must solve puzzles and mysteries to win, or successfully break out of, the games.
ReDiscover Logistics Park
A large industrial park is under construction in north Phoenix, near Loop 101 and Interstate 17. Its developer, the Phoenix-based real estate firm ViaWest Group, believes the roughly 808,000-square-foot project can play a pivotal role in the state’s growing microchip industry.
When built, ReDiscover Logistics Park will be “strategically positioned” near the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company’s multibillion-dollar campus that’s just a 15-minute drive up I-17.
The Corner at Midtown
A new retail and restaurant center called The Corner at Midtown is planned to fill the long-vacant site near Third Street and McDowell Road.
The Phoenix-based commercial real estate company Helix Properties is behind the 15,000-square-foot project, which will sit within Phoenix’s Arts District. It’ll neighbor the Arts District Apartments complex and replace the demolished Los Olivos Hand Car Wash, which operated on the site for decades before closing in 2017.
