Belinda Carlisle rose to musical stardom as the lead singer of the Go-Gos, but the beloved songbird is loving life as she travels the world in her sixties.
Carlisle and the Go-Gos smashed onto the scene in the ’80s with hits like “We Got the Beat” and “Vacation,” but she also had a successful solo career with hits like “Heaven Is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.” These days, Carlisle, 67, is still touring like crazy and released her new album, “Once Upon a Time in California,” back in August. But she still keeps up with her followers on her Instagram account, which shows her delightful travel photos.
Back in August, Carlisle celebrated her 67th birthday with a stunning selfie that made it clear the singer is basically aging in reverse. Sporting a stylish sunhat and a chambray shirt, the beauty posed for the camera.
“Another trip around the ☀️….. grateful to be here when so many of my friends and loved ones aren’t. So the word of today is GRATITUDE 🙏🏼🙏🏼🩵🩵🙏🏼🙏🏼Happy Sunday!!” she wrote.
Finding Peace in Sobriety
In a recent interview with The Sunday Times, Carlisle opened up about her past issues with drugs and alcohol, which continued for many years.
“I thought, I’ll just drink wine, and I won’t do coke. I realised that in order to continue with my career — which was in the toilet — the most important thing was to get sober. I remember playing this little club in Northampton at the end of my drinking and using. There were 12 people in the audience, and my dressing room was a closet for cleaning materials, mops and brooms. I thought, wow. I was able to turn things around, but I wouldn’t have been able to if I had been behaving in the way I was before I got sober,” she recalled.
These days, things look a lot different for Carlisle, who is married with one son.
“I get up at 3:30 am. Then I chant for 40 minutes. I love chanting. It’s not airy-fairy; it’s scientific,” she explained.
