Alexa PenaVega is teasing a return to what is perhaps her best-known and most loved role after more than two decades, and millennials’ “hearts are racing” over the possibilities.
The actress took to TikTok on Thursday, Aug. 7, with a brief video implying another Spy Kidsfilm to come, 22 years after the original trilogy’s conclusion and 14 years after a sequel that PenaVega briefly cameoed in.
“Just got off the phone with Robert Rodriguez…” she wrote over a clip of herself fist-pumping as she sat on the couch with an excited smirk on her face. “Rumor has it… the OSS has been reactivated 😎.”
“😎😎😎 Buckle up,” she added in the caption.
Fans were locked in the moment they saw the news, with many begging her, “Dont play with me Carmen Cortez😭😭😭.”
“My millennial heart is racing right now,” one admitted, as another wondered, “Whattttt!? Am I dreaming???”
“Carmen Elizabeth Juanita Echo Sky Brava Cortez,” someone else quipped, adding, “we need more information.”
“YEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS MY CHILDHOOD HAS BEEN ACTIVATED. spy kids was a STAPLE movie in my house,” another cheered, while several others who have clearly been jaded by the number of reboots lately assured her, “Now this is a sequel/reboot I will watch!”
There’s absolutely no other information to go off yet, including whether any of the other original cast members will be involved, but it’s clear that if things work out, there’s already a built-in fan base ready to make whatever this project ends up being a box office hit.
