A mysterious countdown has appeared on Taylor Swift‘s website amid growing speculation that a new studio album will be released this week.
On the evening of Monday, August 11, a countdown to August 12 at 12:12 a.m. ET appeared on Swift’s website. The website does not share what the countdown is for, but the multiple “12” references heavily imply that her 12th original album is coming.

Rumors of a new album started swirling Monday morning after her official fan account, Taylor Nation, made a suspicious post on Instagram.
Alongside a carousel of pictures from Swift’s Eras Tour, the account wrote, “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era…’❤️🔥”
In every photo, Swift is wearing an outfit in a shade of orange — potentially hinting at the color scheme and aesthetic for her next project.
Fans started speculating that the official announcement would be made on her boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s podcast New Heights after the podcast’s official Instagram account teased a “special episode with a VERY special guest” set to air on Wednesday, August 13 at 7 p.m. ET.
In the photo, Travis wears Swift’s merchandise alongside brother and co-host Jason Kelce. Between them is a silhouette that looks eerily similar to Swift, and fans also pointed out the shimmery orange background that matches the looks in Taylor Nation’s Instagram post.
Though many fans were convinced that Swift would be announcing the project on the podcast episode, a recent TikTok posted by the singer points to the August 12 date now being teased on her official website.
In a cryptic TikTok posted in October 2024, Swift wanders around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida before an Eras Tour show. In the video, she stops right before section A12, pets her cat, and then winks at the camera.
Either way, Swifties will soon find out if their theories are correct.
