Aerosmith Legend Joe Perry Says He’ll ‘Never Say Never’ to More Live Shows

Joe Perry still thinks Aerosmith has a final show left in them, but it likely won’t be a part of a farewell concert tour. In August 2025, the founding guitarist spoke out to WBUR, where he reiterated that his longtime band could take the stage for a one-off grand finale.

“I would bet that there’s an Aerosmith show left,” Perry, 74, told the outlet one year after the beloved rock band announced their retirement from touring.

“I’ve been spending a lot of time with Steven [Tyler], and he just doesn’t want to tour and he can’t tour,” Perry added of the band’s legendary lead singer. “It’s tough. I’m not sure I would want to go out and book another 40-city tour. It’s a long way to the top, and staying there takes it out of you, especially an Aerosmith tour.”

Perry also addressed the possibility of a residency as Aerosmith did several years ago with their Deuces are Wild shows at the Park Theater in Las Vegas, the Borgata in Atlantic City, and several other residency venues.

“I’ll never say never,” Perry said, adding, “But I wouldn’t bet on it, no pun intended. You really have to want to be out there, and we’re all at that point of: How do you want to live? How do you want to spend the next however long you’ve got?”

Joe Perry Has Made His Wishes for a Final Aerosmith Show Known

In late 2023, Aerosmith’s Peace Out: The Farewell Tour was cut short after Tyler damaged his vocal cords. In August 2024, the band announced on Instagram that they would officially stop touring due to the lead singer’s ongoing vocal issues.

“Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other,” the band said in a statement. “He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. … Sadly, it is clear that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”

In a June 2025 interview on Eddie Trunk’s Sirius XM show Trunk Nation, Perry said he was still hopeful for one final Aerosmith show.

“We’re talking about it,“ the guitar legend said of his longtime bandmates, which include Tyler, guitarist Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton, and drummer Joey Kramer. “I mean, except for anything on the calendar, we’re all alive and well, so we’ll just have to see. … I’m always hoping,” he added, per Blabbermouth.net.

“I know there’s gotta be at least another Aerosmith gig, and I’m not looking forward to putting the set list together for that one,” Perry added. “I’ve got enough in me. I still wanna do [a final Aerosmith show]… So, we’ll see what happens.”
