Rise Against released a music video for their single, “Ricochet,” off their freshly released album of the same title. The album title and imagery in the video, directed by Kai Dickson and co-edited by Devon Solwold, seems to assert political awareness.
The video opens with a standard George Orwell quote to suggest that “Ricochet” is Rise Against’s attempt at a protest song. A voiceover vaguely mentions climate devastation as the band plays in front of a screen that projects short scenes of violence from a nonspecific conflict. Quite dubiously, Rise Against partnered with Amazon, a notoriously evil conglomerate, on a special vinyl release of this album which sort of undermines any attempt at subversion or resistance.
