Actor and director Justin Baldoni has responded to Isabela Ferrer’s claims that he’s “harassing” her with a subpoena request in his and Blake Lively‘s lawsuit.
Ferrer, who played the younger version of Lively’s character in It Ends with Us, is said to have had her communications related to Lively’s sexual harassment claims subpoenaed by Baldoni’s legal team in the case Lively filed in December 2024, alleging misconduct and retaliation, which Baldoni denies.
On Monday, August 18, attorneys for Baldoni, who recently faced off with Lively in deposition for first time since lawsuit, claimed in a new court filing that Ferrer’s “opposition is primarily an inappropriate attack upon Mr. Baldoni and his counsel relating to matters not before the Court and irrelevant” to whether the actress star should be served a subpoena.
After Baldoni issued a subpoena to Ferrer in July, his attorneys filed a motion on August 12 claiming that Ferrer has been unreachable and unresponsive.
In Ferrer’s response, her lawyers claimed that Baldoni has “engaged in bad faith tactics” and filed his motion “for improper purposes and with the aim of harassing” Ferrer.
“Baldoni made no effort to tailor the subpoena towards the production of new or different materials, demonstrating that the real aim of the Baldoni Subpoena, as well as the pending Motion, is to harass Ms. Ferrer,” they said.
The actress asked the court to deny Baldoni’s motion and impose sanctions on him.
ln Baldoni’s latest court filing, his legal team claimed that it subpoenaed Ferrer “for documents that she either neglected to produce or were not requested by” a subpoena Lively served Ferrer in February to provide relevant communications for her case.
Baldoni also denied Ferrer’s lawyers’ notion that serving Ferrer with a subpoena constitutes Baldoni “harassing” the actress.
His lawyers added that Lively “should not be permitted to obtain discovery from” Ferrer while Ferrer and her counsel “frustrate all effort by the Wayfarer Parties to obtain the discovery critical to the preparation of their defense.”
Baldoni’s legal team is asking the court to consider ordering both parties to avoid using “any communication to, from or concerning Ms. Ferrer, or any testimony from her, in any manner in this action” to “satisfy Ms. Ferrer’s apparent desire to avoid involvement in the litigation and trial.”

Baldoni’s lawyers noted in its filing that Ferrer “expressed her gratitude to Mr. Baldoni, stating that she had ‘an incredible experience’ and praised him for creating ‘a comfortable, safe space’ for her” in her messages with Baldoni after she finished filming the movie.
Ferrer’s lawyers argued in its Auust 17 motion that “some of the text messages Ms. Ferrer sent Baldoni were very positive and included the types of comments one would expect from a young actress to make to the director and producer of her first feature film.”
Lively’s attorneys previously claimed in court filings in February that two of Lively’s female costars in It Ends With Us had agreed to testify about their experiences with Baldoni’s alleged behavior on the movie’s set. However, her legal team did not name those witnesses at that time.
Ferrer’s attorneys also alleged that Baldoni’s team has engaged in aggressive tactics, including publicly sharing private information like home addresses connected to Ferrer. The Daily Express US has reached out to Baldoni’s team for comment on this.
They claim this is part of a strategy “to pressure her and undermine her credibility.”
They continued that these actions “are transparent efforts to exert pressure on Ms. Ferrer,” including by publicly disseminating home “addresses that could have been Ms. Ferrer’s home. This sort of conduct from Baldoni is not new.”
The actress has also invoked an indemnification clause in her contract with Baldoni’s Wayfarer Studios, which requires the studio to cover her legal fees. However, Ferrer’s team claims the studio hasn’t honored its obligations, blocking her from revealing crucial facts, according to PEOPLE. The Daily Express US has also reached out to Baldoni’s team for comment on this.
