The 2024-25 TV season left us with lots of burning questions — and in just a matter of weeks, we will start to slowly but surely get answers to those tantalizing cliffhangers.

Meaning, now is the time to put on your prognostication hats and render your most current verdict on what will happen next on more than shows returning this fall.

Needless to say, this spring’s flurry of finales left multiple lives in limbo — threatened by fire, a sharp turn to spare a child, and other dire events.

Some season finales, meanwhile, dangled a mystery before us with their final moments, by introducing a new and clearly meaningful character, or putting a hero in a compromised position.

What will happen next, TVLine asks you, on Grey’s Anatomy, Fire Country, High Potential, Matlock, FBI and other returning favorites? Read our breezy cliffhanger catch-ups below, consider our own predictions, and then vote in each show’s poll!

Chicago Med: Who Is Hannah’s Baby Daddy?

WHEN LAST WE TUNED IN: The Chicago Med finale ended with pregnant Hannah taking a deep breath and knocking on someone’s house door. Ripley came bounding down the stairs, leading viewers to assume that Hannah was about to tell him he’s the father… only she wasn’t at his door. Instead, Ripley was greeted by Sadie (guest star Holly Curran), the woman he rescued from the well, while Hannah was actually visiting Dean Archer. “We need to talk,” Hannah told Dean when he opened the door.

TVLINE PREDICTS: In lieu of a DNA test, our heart tells us that the baby daddy has to be Ripley, and that Hannah’s visit to Dean’s house was merely a misdirect. That said, Hannah and Ripley broke up quite some time ago, and Hannah showed up at Dean’s house earlier this season with dinner after his wife died, so anything is possible. Unfortunately, showrunner Allen MacDonald isn’t going be any help with this one: “I’m sorry to say that I can’t tell you that it officially confirms anything,” he told TVLine of Hannah’s visit to Dean. “There’s more things coming up in the fall, and I do enjoy torturing the audience all summer long.”

FBI: Is Isobel OK?

WHEN LAST WE TUNED IN: SAC Isobel Castille (Alana De La Garza) — who earlier in the Season 7 finale had been caught in the blast of an exploding cell phone meant for ADIC Reynolds — was commending the team for thwarting Forefront when she began repeating herself and scrambling words. When Isobel collapsed to the floor, Maggie raced to her side and found no pulse….

TVLINE PREDICTS: Isobel does not die, but takes the brush with death as her cue to leave the FBI and enjoy a quiet life with secret husband Tom Cavanagh.

Fire Country: Who Died in the Memory Care Facility Fire?

WHEN LAST WAE TUNED IN: Bode (Max Thieriot) watched in horror, and had to be held back from racing back inside, as the raging Buena Vista fire consumed Walter’s memory care facility and collapsed the roof — with Walter (Jeff Fahey), Vince (Billy Burke) and Sharon (Diane Farr) all still inside.

TVLINE PREDICTS: Given Burke’s reported exit from the CBS series, Vince (and only Vince) died in the fire.

Grey’s Anatomy: Was Link Blown to Bits?

WHEN LAST WE TUNED IN: Link (Chris Carmack) had just learned that the twins he and bride Jo (Camilla Luddington) were expecting were both girls when the O.R. in which was performing surgery blew up. What’s more, having been tipped off about the risk of an explosion, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) had sent nephew Lucas (Niko Terho) running in that direction to clear the area.

TVLINE PREDICTS: Link may be down, but he’s not out; no way would the show heap another heartache on Jo (whose first husband was abusive and second was runaway Karev). We doubt that Lucas will die, either, considering that the ABC drama just introduced a romantic rival for him in the new surgical resident with whom girlfriend Simone has already slept. When the smoke clears, all we’re really likely to be looking at is a remodeled O.R.

High Potential: Who Is David Giuntoli Playing?

WHEN LAST WE TUNED IN: A twisted game master, played by A Million Little Things’ David Giuntoli, targeted Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) at the grocery store, sneaking a card game into her bag with a note: “You’re the one, Morgan. We shall play again. Me and you.”

TVLINE PREDICTS: Morgan suddenly mentioning her father in the season finale — specifically that he also had HPI, and he used to push her to play more difficult games as a kid — makes us think that Giuntoli’s character has some connection to the man who raised Morgan. The possibilities are endless, but we’ve narrowed it down to two potential outcomes: either Giuntoli is playing a sibling Morgan never knew about, or he’s someone who studied at her father’s feet and wants to challenge the greatest person her father ever trained.

Law & Order: Did Sam Play a Hand in Her Sister’s Killer’s Demise?

WHEN WE LAST TUNED IN: The man that Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun thinks killed her sister years ago was dead. Sam couldn’t have had anything to do with his murder… could she? Executive ADA Nolan Price certainly thought so.

TVLINE PREDICTS: Assuming the procedural bothers to provide resolution, rather than just sweep its cliffhanger under the rug, we’ll discover that Sam was not responsible for Carter Mills’ murder. That said, she won’t hide that’s happy about it — and that won’t sit well with Nolan.

Matlock: Will Olympia Tell Matty the Truth About Julian?

WHEN LAST WE TUNED IN: Olympia (Skye P. Marshall) Matlock’d her way into accessing Julian’s bank records/safe deposit box, and discovered that he had personally hid the damning Welbrexa study that Matty has been seeking. Julian, arriving on the scene, explained that Senior years ago ordered him to disappear the document.

TVLINE PREDICTS: Olympia will not tell Matty about Julian’s role in the Welbrexa cover-up, and instead suggest the three of them band together to take down Senior for the misdeed.

NCIS: Origins: Is Lala Dead?

WHEN LAST WE TUNED IN: Lala (Mariel Molino) was on her way to tell Gibbs she convinced MP Macy to not pin Pedro Hernandez’s murder on him, when to avoid hitting a kid in the street she violently flipped her Jeep. “I loved her all along. I still do,” Narrator Gibbs told us as the camera zoomed on on Special Agent Dominguez’s seemingly lifeless form. “This is a story I don’t tell. I can’t find the words. But it never stops running through my head — the story of her.”

TVLINE PREDICTS: Lala indeed died on the scene, but Gibbs will feel her presence, maybe even “talk” to her “ghost,” in an early Season 2 episode or two. After all, co-showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal confirmed in her TVLine Women to Watch video that “Mariel has been on set with us” and as such, “It’s fair to say that you will see [Lala]” in Season 2, “but how remains a mystery.”

NCIS: Sydney: Who Was Waiting for Blue?

WHEN LAST WE TUNED IN: Blue (Mavournee Hazel) — who’d unwittingly appeared in the background of a photo printed in the local newspaper — came home to find an older woman waiting for her inside her rather secure flat.

TVLINE PREDICTS: The woman, ID’d in the credits as “Aspira” (and played by Five Bedrooms‘ Doris Younane), runs a small criminal organization for which Blue once worked as a hacker, and from which she just barely escaped.

Tracker: Did Colter’s Mom Put a Hit on Dad?

WHEN WE LAST TUNED IN: Colter confronted Otto Waldron, who revealed that, yes, he pushed Ashton Shaw off a cliff more than 20 years ago — but it was Mary, Colter’s mother, who asked Otto for his help on that fateful night.

TVLINE PREDICTS: Technically, Mary will have been responsible for her husband’s demise. But we’ll also learn that the situation escalated beyond her wildest expectations, and she was just doing what she had to do to protect her three children. She’s not actually evil.
