Travis Kelce’s Dad Spills On The ‘Beautiful’ Way His Son Proposed To Taylor Swift

Ed Kelce — in an interview with Cleveland’s ABC affiliate News 5 — revealed that his son proposed to the pop star at a garden in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, just over two weeks ago, a little over two years after the two began dating.

“He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, ‘Let’s go out and have a glass of wine,’” Ed Kelce said.

“They got out there, and that’s when he asked her, and it was beautiful.”

“I knew what they were going to say, and they, you know, let us know,” said Ed Kelce, who added he’d been speculating the propsal would happen “months ago” during last year’s NFL season.

Ed Kelce said his son was going to delay popping the question until this week “to make it a big special event,” but he thinks Swift may have gotten “a little antsy.”

“And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event … when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you,” said Kelce, who noted that Swift’s father — Scott Swift — told the NFL star the same thing.

He said the newly engaged couple recently met up with him and Donna Kelce, the NFL star’s mother, for a “wonderful” dinner in Kansas City to watch ESPN’s docuseries “The Kingdom,” which looks at the Chiefs’ quest for a three-peat last season.

“To just watch the two of them, just crazy about each other. It’s truly kinda neat,” he said.

Ed Kelce said he’s “as prepared as you can be” for their wedding, adding that he looks at his son the same way that the Swifts probably look at their daughter.

“This is still the little kid they raised at home,” he said. “Yes, they’ve both had a lot of success in their endeavors, and they get a lot of notoriety and a lot of attention, but they’re still the same people that we raised. And it just makes you feel good to see a couple this much in love.”
