Celebrities around the globe have weighed in on the announcement of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement with Donald Trump even having something nice to say.
Swift’s fairytale she has been singing about since she was a teenager has finally come true after the lovers of two years jointly announced their special news on Tuesday, US time.
The post, which consisted of several striking images of the proposal in a beautiful garden setting, reportedly received more than 10 million likes within an hour after it was shared online.
Fans and celebrities alike flooded social media with their reactions to some of the biggest pop culture news this week.
President of the United States Donald Trump, who once claimed to hate the pop star, gave a surprising message of well-wishes to the mega couple.
Trump was asked to weigh in on Swift’s engagement to the NFL star during a high-profile meeting with members of his Cabinet in Washington on Tuesday.
“I would love to ask you a serious question, but I have to tell you, the biggest pop culture news of the year broke while we were in this Cabinet meeting,” a reporter asked Mr Trump.
“Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are engaged. And the world wants your reaction, sir.”
Responding to the news, the 79-year-old wished the Kansas City Chiefs tight end luck, before complimenting the Love Story singer.
“Well, I wish him a lot of luck,” Mr Trump said.
“I think he’s a great player. I think he’s a great guy.
“And I think that she’s a terrific person.
“So I wish them a lot of luck.”
It comes after Mr Trump expressed his feelings for Swift last year after the singer announced her endorsement of then-Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election.
“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” he said on Truth Social in September.
He took aim at Swift again earlier this year after she was loudly booed at the Super Bowl 2025 match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” he said on Truth Social in February.
“She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
Months later, he took a jab at the 14-time Grammy winner’s appearance.
“Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” he said on Truth Social in May.
Fellow singers also took to the internet to congratulate Swift and Kelce.
Sabrina Carpenter, who is set to star on Swift’s new song The Life of a Showgirl, reposted the announcement with several white heart emojis.
Avril Lavigne said a “huge congratulations” while Cara Delevingne also reshared the couple’s post with lots of heart on fire emojis.
Charlie Puth, who got married last year, said: “Congratulations Taylor and Travis! This is the best part of life. So happy for you both.”
Kelce’s dad Ed Kelce revealed his son proposed to Swift nearly two weeks ago.
When Ed asked when they would break the news, Kelce responded: “Whenever Taylor says so.”
