After a terrible performance in California, the Detroit Tigers begin a three-game weekend series against the Kansas City Royals on Friday night.
The Tigers are coming off a rough three-game stretch in the capital of the Golden State. In the team’s first trip to Sacramento, Detroit was vastly inconsistent against one of the worst teams in baseball, dropping all three games against the Athletics, losing by a combined score of 22-9.

Now, the Tigers, who have lost four games in a row, look to turn things around against the team that is chasing them in the American League Central. The Royals have won four of their past five series, taking two of three from another division rival, the Chicago White Sox, earlier this week.
The Tigers are 8.5 games ahead of the Royals for first place in the Central, with KC sitting three games back of a Wild Card spot.
These two teams met in Detroit last weekend, with the Tigers taking two of three from the Royals.
