Musicians Abby Posner, left, and Lizzie No will perform Sept. 19 at the Joseph V. Canzani Center at the Columbus College of Art & Design. The show is the opener of Six String Concerts' 2025-26 season.

In 1988, a group of acoustic music-loving friends discussed how they could bring more national and regional unplugged acts to central Ohio.

Frustrated by the dearth of such artists performing in the area, they decided discussing it wasn’t enough. So, they took action and started producing shows themselves under the name Six String Concerts.

The volunteer-run nonprofit organization’s inaugural 1988-89 season included rising stars and veteran performers, local talent and such widely known touring acoustic artists as Livingston Taylor and Patty Larkin.

Six String will showcase a diverse range of acoustic singer-songwriters during its 2025-26 season, set in the Columbus College of Art & Design (CCAD) Joseph V. Canzani Center, 60 Cleveland Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m. for all shows, which start at 7:30 p.m.

The lineup, which will feature contemporary folk, roots, Americana, bluegrass and country, will be led by genre-defying multi-instrumentalists Abby Posner and Lizzie No on Sept. 19.

General-admission tickets for this concert cost $30. For all shows in the season, $5 youth tickets are available for those under 18.

Also, as part of Six String’s partnership with CCAD, a $10 discount on tickets bought at the door will be given to CCAD students with valid student ID.

  • The Accidentals: Nov. 21, alternative-indie folk; general admission $35
