Labor Day weekend is here, and the South Shore is sending (the unofficial end of) summer out with a bang. From a free waterfront Beatles tribute in Quincy to barnyard fun in Hingham, a blazing bonfire on Duxbury Beach, a Tom Petty tribute under the big top in Cohasset and hundreds of gleaming classic cars in Marshfield, there’s no shortage of things to do before September arrives.
Whether you’re looking to sing along to familiar tunes, let the kids meet some farm animals or just soak up the last long days of the season, you’ll find plenty happening close to home. Check out the details below.
New England’s top Beatles tribute band, Studio Two, closes out this summer’s Friends Fridays series on the Quincy waterfront, only the Friends Friday event will be held on Sunday, Aug. 31, due to forecasted rain.
The free, family- and pet-friendly show includes food and drinks from Break Rock Brewing and Black’s Creek BBQ. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, or grab a seat in the amphitheater. For more information, visit friendsofrga.org.

When and where: 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, Weir River Farm, 140 Turkey Hill Lane, Hingham.
Kids can meet goats, piglets, sheep and rabbits, then stroll the trails that connect to Whitney and Thayer Woods. Parking is available at the lot across from the studio, with a short walk down the grassy chute to the red barn. The program will be held rain or shine. Dogs are not allowed.
Tickets are $5 for Trustees members, $10 for nonmembers, with free admission for children under 2.

When and where: Begins at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at Duxbury Beach, accessible via Powder Point Bridge or Gurnet Road.
This free community tradition features live music from (former Patriot Ledger paperboy from when striped tube socks were king)) Mike Kane at 4 p.m. and the Aldous Collins Band at 6 p.m., followed by a bonfire about 30 minutes after sunset (around 7:21 p.m.). Food vendors will be on site, or bring your own. Residents may park for free at Duxbury Beach Park after 3 p.m. with proof of residency. Nonresidents can use paid or overflow lots, and pedestrian access is available via a lit path from the park.

An Evening with The Broken Hearts — Tom Petty Tribute
When and where: 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at South Shore Music Circus, 130 Sohier St., Cohasset. Doors open at 7 p.m.
The Broken Hearts perform the music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, with favorites like “American Girl” and “Free Fallin’” under the big top in the round. Tickets start at about $49, with prices varying by seat.

More than 700 classic cars, hot rods and race machines will roll into Marshfield for this high-octane summer finale. Visitors can browse the swap meet, enjoy live music, grab food from local vendors and check out a pinup contest.
Admission is $10 for spectators and $20 for participants. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
