Chief Engineer Petrovich betrayed Yutani in Alien: Earth by sabotaging the Maginot and striking a deal with Boy Kavalier. Petrovich started a fire in the ship’s engine controls, blew a hole in the vessel, and caused the crash into Prodigy City.
He pretended to remain in cryo-sleep by hacking the “Mother” computer, hiding in the mechanical sections while staging the destruction. A recorded video call later revealed he conspired with Boy Kavalier to ensure the ship landed in Prodigy’s territory.
Petrovich’s motives were tied to money, resentment, and personal frustrations. In an interview with Deadline, Noah Hawley explained, “Petrovich gave up 65 years of his life to go on this mission… He doesn’t think he’s getting paid enough so Boy Kavalier reaches out and makes him an offer.”

The sabotage released two xenomorphs and exposed the crew to catastrophic danger. Although Morrow initially suspected Rahim and Teng, Teng’s cryptic hints about the cryo-pods helped uncover Petrovich’s role. Petrovich admitted his grievances about low pay, the mission, and Yutani’s “red tape.” His final words to Morrow, “You can’t stop it.
