Looking to do some star spotting at TIFF? These celebs will be walking red carpets along King Street Thursday and Friday afternoon
As the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) launches into its first day, many pop culture fanatics and moviegoers are eager to do some star spotting.
A number of celebs will walk red carpets along King Street throughout the festival.
Today, Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds, singer Charli XCX and actor Ethan Hawke are slated to appear at their respective premieres.
Reynolds is attending TIFF as a producer of the documentary John Candy: I Like Me. The film is a tribute to the beloved Canadian actor John Candy, who died in 1994, and features testimonies from Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, Catherine O’Hara and more.
Reynolds is scheduled to walk the red carpet at Roy Thompson Hall around 6:30 p.m. tonight, in advance of the documentary’s 8 p.m. screening. Director Colin Hanks and the Candy family are also slated to appear.
Charli XCX is in her first starring role with Pete Ohs’ Erupcja, a sapphic romance about a Polish florist (played by Lena Góra) and a British tourist (played by Charli XCX).
The actresses, alongside Ohs and co-stars Jeremy O. Harris and Will Madden, are scheduled to walk the red carpet at the TIFF Lightbox around 2 p.m., ahead of the film’s 3:45 p.m. screening.
Hawke will appear at the festival to promote The Lowdown, a modern noir about a man who lives, owns and works in a rare bookstore in Tulsa, Okla. The screening at TIFF Lightbox will begin at 9:30 p.m., following a red carpet just before 8 p.m., where director Sterlin Harjo is expected to join Hawke.
Stellan Skarsgård and Elle Fanning are scheduled to appear on the red carpet at the Sentimental Value premiere tonight. The film, about a director trying to rebuild relationships with his family members, will premiere at the Princess of Wales Theatre at 9:30 p.m., with the red carpet slated for 8:15 p.m. The actors will be joined by director Joachim Trier and co-stars Renate Reinsve and Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas.
Tonight’s screening of Mile End Kicks — a film about a young music critic who moves to Montreal in search of self-discovery and love — will see director Chandler Levack and stars Barbie Ferreira, Devon Bostick and Jay Baruchel, among others, walk the red carpet.
The Mile End Kicks crew is scheduled to walk the red carpet at the Royal Alexandra Theatre around 7:15 p.m., before the 8:30 p.m. movie screening.
Actress Shailene Woodley is expected to appear at tonight’s Motor City premiere at the TIFF Lightbox, a revenge tale about a 1970s-era everyman who is framed by a local gangster.
Woodley will be joined by co-stars Alan Ritchson, Ben Foster, Ben McKenzie and director Potsy Ponciroli to walk the red carpet just before 8 p.m. Motor City will be shown at 8:45 p.m.
Tomorrow afternoon, actor Sydney Sweeney will walk the red carpet ahead of the premiere of her film Christy. The movie, which chronicles the life of boxer Christy Martin, will be shown at the Princess of Wales Theatre at 2 p.m., after a red carpet at 12:45 p.m. Director David Michôd and co-stars Ben Foster and Katy O’Brian are also scheduled to appear.
