Maria Shriver may soon be walking down the aisle. A source exclusively tells Globe that the journalist, 69, is considering marrying her boyfriend of 12 years, Matthew Dowd.
“He’s been waiting in the wings, a best friend and unwavering support in the best and worst of times, and now she’s finally coming around and thinking, ‘Why not get married?’” reveals the source.
Though the source notes that Shriver has been “hesitant” to walk down the aisle. However, Dowd, 64, has “charmed her,” and she sees him as her “soulmate.”

Shriver was previously married to Arnold Schwarzenegger, with whom she shares kids Katherine, 35, Christina, 34, Patrick, 31, and Christopher, 27.
She announced her separation from the “Terminator” actor, 78, in 2011 after 25 years following his confession that he fathered a secret love child with their family’s housekeeper, Mildred Baena, over a decade earlier. (His son, Joseph Baena, is now 27 years old.)
Shriver and Schwarzenegger’s divorce was finalized in 2021.
