“The actress Anne Schedeen has died at the age of 77. The causes of death have not been disclosed, but the confirmation came in a statement on Facebook. The actress reached the height of her career and remained in everyone’s memory after playing the role of the mother who took in the extraterrestrial Alf in an ordinary American family.

A message with which the family wished to say goodbye: “It is with deep sorrow that we have to announce that Anne has passed away peacefully. She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of creative energy, smart and sharp humor, family delight, adoration for her little dogs, hatred of Trump, a passion for thrift shopping, and a love of good stories. We are devastated without her. She was loved by many, as were all those who knew her”.

A career devoted to the small screen

Luanne Ruth Schedeen is an American actress born on January 8, 1949, in Portland, Oregon. She began her journey in the world of acting in the early 1970s, initially adopting the name Annie Schedeen. Her first professional steps were in television, where she signed an exclusive contract with Universal Pictures that led to numerous guest appearances in some of the most popular drama and comedy series of the time.

During her first fifteen years of career, Schedeen became an extremely familiar face on the American small screen thanks to her recurring roles and collaborations in successful productions. Among her most notable credits from this period are iconic series such as “Emergency!”, “Three”s Company” (where she played several different characters), “Cheers”, “Magnum”, “P.I.” and “The Incredible Hulk”. In addition to her prolific television work, she also made occasional forays into film, appearing in feature films such as the cult horror movie Embryo (1976).

The high point of her career and the role that brought her international recognition came in 1986, when she was selected to play Kate Tanner in the hit sitcom ALF. Over four seasons and a total of 99 episodes, she portrayed the sensible matriarch of the family that took in the irreverent extraterrestrial, becoming one of the comedic and emotional pillars of the series. After the production was canceled in 1990, her media appearances became very sporadic until her definitive retirement from acting, redirecting her professional activity toward interior design and philanthropy.
