Doja Cat is bringing back the ’80s with her latest red carpet ensemble.
On Sunday, Sept. 7, the “Paint the Town Red” singer hit the red carpet for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, where she put on a dazzling display in a retro-inspired look.

Doja, 29, looked straight out of the ’80s while making an appearance at Sunday night’s award show, rocking a super-teased hairstyle and a bright red shade of lipstick.
For her wardrobe, the Grammy-winning rapper showed off her figure in a form-fitting mini dress featuring a baby blue and pastel yellow diamond pattern. The body-hugging garment, which rested off Doja’s shoulders, also included a plunging neckline lined with sparkly pink tinsel-like fabric.
Doja accessorized her ‘fit with a pair of dangling pink earrings, as well as bright-red nail polish to match her lipstick. Her hair, a warm honey blonde color, was teased and styled into big curls for an extra-voluminous effect.

After seeing photos on social media, fans were instantly mesmerized by Doja’s outfit for the VMAs. Several users on Instagram noticed that the singer’s big, blonde hairstyle was reminiscent of country queen Dolly Parton, with some people nicknaming the artist “Doja Parton” and “Dolly Doja.”

Doja Cat’s Next Album Will Heavily Feature ’80s Influences
It’s not just Doja’s fashion that has been inspired by the ’80s lately, as she also recently announced that her next album will be heavily influenced by the iconic decade.
In a cover story for V Magazine published in July, Doja said her fifth studio album, is titled Vie, which means “life” in French.
“I have so many things that float around in my brain when it comes to the ’80s,” she teased of her upcoming “nostalgic” album, noting that she views the entire ’80s decade as a “a dream world concept, or dream-core.”
