The South African singer looked every bit a diva while turning up for the star-studded event, which was held at UBS Arena in New York on September 7. Tyla proudly jumped on the pantless trend and made an archival Chanel top work as a minidress. The pop star also added dazzling elements to her award show look with several layers of chunky gold jewelry.

Tyla made a bold statement by embracing the pantless trend at the 2025 MTV VMAs, wearing a Chanel top as a minidress. The songwriter went for the archives and wore a piece from the fashion house’s Spring 1993 Ready-to-Wear collection. The textured cream top features corset-style fitting and bone structure. The highlight of the piece is the black trim that works in contrast and is adorned with cream chain detailing. The teeny tiny top also features pockets on both sides.
The edge of the pockets mirrors the same detailing as the trim. They are further topped with black buttons. Tyla’s award show look was further elevated with the layers of gold jewelry. She wore a three-tier chain around her waist to add a dazzling twist to the otherwise formal-looking top. The rest of the accessories were in tune to enhance the gold accent of the look. Tyla’s neck was barely visible as she wore stacks of chunky gold necklaces from Pandora’s Talisman collection that matched her waist chain.
The “Water” hitmaker also wore matching stacked bracelets on both hands, as well as on one ankle. Tyla wore another green beaded anklet on the other. She rounded off the jewels with a stack of rings. Furthermore, the singer coordinated the look with a pair of pointed-toe stilettos for the occasion. Besides that, Tyla’s makeup was equally glamorous for the star-studded event. She rocked winged eyeliner and mascara along with blush and nude lip gloss.
Tyla wore her short, straightened-out hair down with tiny braids working as a side parting. The artist looked the perfect diva as she bagged the Best Afrobeats award for “Push 2 Start” at the 2025 VMAs.
