The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are celebrating the best entries in the music video medium from the past year. And while those visuals are center stage at this year’s telecast, there was plenty of non-musical eye candy, as well, namely many of the looks that stars wore as they walked the red carpet at the USB Arena in Elmont, New York.
The VMAs are synonymous with over-the-top fashion — who could forget Chappell Roan’s sword from last year’s affair or Cardi B’s hair clip gown in 2023— and this year has been no different. From the daring to the over-the-top to the confusing, the VMAs invite variety and experimentation you won’t catch at more buttoned-up awards shows such as the Oscars. Here are a few looks from LGBTQ celebs at this year’s show.
Artists such as Doja Cat arrived on the carpet in looks that recalled their current musical eras, while comedian Meg Stalter felt free enough to show up in a white-and-silver striped bodice with a Dunkin’ Donuts cup as a purse. Others went for the frankly sexual, with Ricky Martin baring a little bit of chest and Yungblud baring a lot more.
