Movie on 1982 Brewers, ‘Just a Bit Outside,’ adds airings on statewide TV — and on radio

Like the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers team it celebrates, the documentary “Just a Bit Outside” keeps expanding its reach.

Good Karma Brands, the Milwaukee-based broadcasting company that owns the Brewers flagship radio station WTMJ-AM (620), announced Sept. 8 that “Just a Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers” will air on several Wisconsin television stations, including WISC-TV (Channel 3) in Madison, WKBT-TV (Channel 8) in La Crosse, WSAW-TV (Channel 7) in Wausau and WGBA-TV (Channel 26)/WACY-TV (Channel 32) in Green Bay.

No information on specific dates or times for the TV airings was immediately available.

And, in what might be a first for local sports radio, the movie also will air on Brewers Radio Network stations, including WTMJ-AM (620), “on select dates and times” in September and October.

The additional TV airdates followed a report that “Just a Bit Outside,” which has been available for streaming for free on the Roku Channel since April, will air on WMLW, the Milwaukee TV station known as The M, at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 and again at 11 p.m. on Sept. 24.

The documentary, which was a hit when it played in Wisconsin theaters last fall, is a love letter to the 1982 Brewers by two Wisconsin natives: producer-director Sean Hanish and producer (and former president of CBS Entertainment) Kelly Kahl. The movie features interviews with players from the 1982 Brewers — including Hall of Famers Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Ted Simmons and Rollie Fingers — along with behind-the-scenes figures, including late Hall of Fame announcer Bob Uecker.
