Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried are two of the stars of The Housemaid, the upcoming thriller from director Paul Feig.
People Magazine revealed the first photos of The Housemaid, featuring several mysterious shots of Sweeney and Seyfried. One of the photos has Sweeney’s character cleaning a mirror with Seyfried’s character looking at her menacingly in the background.

Who is involved in The Housemaid with Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried?
The Housemaid is an adaptation of the 2022 bestselling novel by author Freida McFadden. Sweeney stars as Millie, a woman looking for a fresh start in life as she attempts to escape her past. Millie is hired as a live-in housemaid for the affluent Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar).
“But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous — a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal and power,” the official synopsis reads. “Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a world of shocking twists that will leave you guessing until the very end.”
Michele Morrone and Elizabeth Perkins also star.
Feig directed the film from a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine. “Shocking, delicious, and fun” is how Feig described the movie.
“The Housemaid is pure entertainment — a sexy and surprising rollercoaster ride of a movie that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats,” Feig told People. “This movie is the kind of insane fun that you’ll want to watch over and over this holiday season. So bring your friends and wear your pearls because you’ll definitely be clutching them!”
Feig produces alongside Laura Fischer and Todd Lieberman.
Lionsgate originally had scheduled The Housemaid for a Christmas Day release. However, the studio moved the release date up by one week to December 19, 2025. The Housemaid will now serve as counterprogramming to Avatar: Fire and Ash, which opens on the same day.
