President Donald Trump’s ex-wife, Marla Maples, has taken to Instagram to praise Charlie Kirk in a tribute following his death.
Charlie, 31, died on Wednesday after he was shot whilst speaking at a student event. The public speaker and political advocate was taken to hospital for surgery following the incident at Utah Valley University, but tragically died from his injuries.
Since news of his death broke, numerous famous faces have come forward to share their condolences with Charlie’s family.
He was married to Erika Lane Frantze, with whom he shared two children.
Taking to Instagram, Marla wrote, “Charlie Kirk. He had the courage to listen fully, without fear, and with genuine openness to differing views. That kind of presence is what our world needs now more than ever, to begin healing.”
Continuing, the 61-year-old penned, “We need more voices willing to meet each other this way. Death cannot stop his soul from soaring, and his mission will be magnified.”
Marla concluded by asking her followers to send Charlie’s family their support, “Let’s all send radiant heart light and comfort to Erika, their beautiful children, and all those whose hearts are broken today.”
Marla’s former husband, Donald Trump, also sent his condolences, as well as confirming Charlie’s death on Truth Social. “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” the President wrote. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.”
Trump further praised his supporter in the post, adding, “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife, Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
