Teen Mom’s Catelynn Baltierra Claps Back After Tyler Faces Accusations He Made Up Autism Diagnosis – Star Magazine

Days after Teen Mom star Tyler Baltierra went public with his autism diagnosis, his wife Catelynn Baltierra was forced to defend him against claims that he made it up.

“We don’t ever come up with storylines for our show. It’s literally our f–king life. It’s not like we sit here and brainstorm,” Catelynn, 33, said during the Wednesday, September 10, episode of their Cate and Ty Break It Down podcast. “Like, ‘Let’s pretend you’re f–king autistic. Let’s pretend that I had a miscarriage or that I’m struggling with my mental health.’”

The 16 & Pregnant alums pointed out that the accusations came from multiple “nasty” social media comments they received after sharing Tyler’s diagnosis.

“Maybe [people] are so far disconnected from the fact that we’re real human beings, experiencing real life struggles, triumphs, whatever,” Tyler, 33, added. “You think we all just wake up and want this? It’s weird. You think this is something that people want to have? What are you crazy?”

As Star previously reported, the reality star recently opened up about his diagnosis.

“I just thought about all the things I went through as a kid. I just felt so sad for that little kid who wondered, ‘What’s wrong with me? Something’s wrong, why am I not normal?’” he explained during the episode, which aired in August. “If I would have known about my stuff, being autistic or being on the spectrum, would that have changed my therapy? It got me thinking, ‘Wow, there’s so many things that could have been different.’”

During the initial podcast, the couple explained that Tyler decided to get tested after noticing similarities in the behavior of their 6-year-old daughter, Vaeda.

While they have yet to get Vaeda tested, Tyler explained that he’s learning to “live with this.”
