Music icon Andrea Bocelli opened up about his son Matteo Bocelli following in his musical footsteps after he performed at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez‘s wedding over the summer.
During an interview with Us Weekly published on Friday, September 12, Bocelli, 66, opened up about Mateo, 27, pursuing a music career of his own. When asked if he’s given Matteo any advice, Andrea revealed he has tried “to teach him everything I have learned over the years.”
“It has been a very long and tough path for me. We live in a very fast-paced world and we don’t have all the time we used to have when we were young,” he said. “I try to convey all my knowledge to Matteo. Other people tell me that his voice really resembles my voice. I give him some tips and it gets easier. I hope [he] will listen to my tips!”
Andrea also reflected on Matteo being hired to perform at Bezo, 61, and Sánchez’s wedding in Venice, Italy, in June. “I was really honored they contacted Matteo. As a parent, I am extremely pleased,” he said. “It would be strange if I [wasn ’t] so happy about this!”
In addition to Matteo, Andrea is also the proud father to son Amos, 29, with his first wife, Enrica Cenzatti, and daughter Virginia, 13, with his current wife, Veronica Berti.
Andrea spoke to the outlet ahead of the release of his documentary, Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe, which will hit theaters on September 21. In the film, fans will get an intimate look into his home life as a husband, parent and friend.

While reflecting on his friendships, Andrea shared that he’s still close with the people he grew up with. “I’m very much attached [to] my country, to my town and all the people that have been with me since the very beginning. My childhood friends are still my friends today. They have taught me a lot,” he said. “They have given me a lot as well, in terms of friendship [and] of serenity and happiness. You can’t live alone. The beauty of life is also made of the harmony that you find with the world around you.”
