New Music Friday: June 5, 2026 – The Indy Review

After reuniting earlier this year for a run of shows across the country, Phantastic Ferniture have surprised fans with the release of their first new music in seven years with the singles ‘Change My Mind’ and ‘Dare To Fall In Love’.

Both tracks are upbeat indie rockers and exactly the type of tunes you would expect from a revitalised Phantastic Ferniture – the group made up of good friends Julia Jacklin, Liz Hughes, Ryan Brennan and Tom Stephens.

Released via Makeout Records, ‘Change My Mind’ and ‘Dare To Fall In Love’ were recorded at Sydney’s Golden Retriever Studios. The band produced the singles themselves and enlisted Tim Carr to mix and Andrew Edgson to master.

The band have also announced a run of six shows across Australia and New Zealand. The Dare To Fern In Love Tour begins with three gigs in New Zealand at Double Whammy in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland on Thursday 11 December, Meow in Te Whanganui-a-Tara/Wellington on Friday 12 December and Loons in Ōhinehou/Lyttelton on Saturday 13 December.

Phantastic Ferniture return to Australia for three final concerts at Croxton Bandroom in Naarm/Melbourne on Thursday 18 December, The Metro Theatre in Gadigal/Sydney on Friday 19 December and Community Hall in Colomatta/Blackheath on Saturday 20 December.

Tickets go on sale at 9am AEST on Monday 15 September via phanfern.com.
