Oakland First Fridays seeks sponsors as funding challenges force entertainment cuts

Set to a moving musical tribute from Lainey Wilson and Vince Gill, the somber “In Memoriam” segment of the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday paid tribute to a host of small-screen stars who have died in the past year. But users on social media were quick to point out the notable names that did not make the montage.

Wilson and Gill performed the 1994 song “Go Rest High on the Mountain” during the segment that remembered significant TV talent such as Twin Peaks creator David Lynch, The Cosby Show‘s Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Good Times star John Amos, Downton Abbey‘s Maggie Smith, Gossip Girl‘s Michele Trachtenberg, Alice‘s Linda Lavin, Shogun‘s Richard Chamberlain and WKRP in Cincinnati‘s Loni Anderson.

More from The Hollywood Reporter

Notable names missing from the segment were Graham Greene, a prolific First Nations actor with a television career that spanned five decades, who died Sept. 1. Greene starred in Northern Exposure, Longmire and most recently The Last of Us, Reservation Dogs and Tulsa King. Also missing was the late Tony Todd, who died Nov. 8, who was a regular guest star on TV, appearing in more than two dozen shows and also had a recurring role most recently in The Flash.

Another shocking omission was Lynne Marie Stewart, the veteran actress best known for her work on Pee-wee’s Playhouse and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, who died in February. While Alice lead Linda Lavin, who died in December, made the segment, her famed co-star Polly Holliday, the actress who played the spirited waitress Flo on the CBS sitcom and her own spinoff, was missing. Holliday died last week at 88.

Jonathan Joss, the King of the Hill voice actor who was shockingly murdered in June, was also missing. Joss, who died after a shooting outside his home in Texas, voiced John Redcorn in King of the Hill and also played Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation.

WWE icon and TV star Hulk Hogan was also missing from the segment. Hogan starred in the ’90s action TV show Thunder in Paradise and was the star of his own VH1 reality show, Hogan Knows Best.
