Noah Wyle just won his first Emmy Award!
The actor, 54, took home the win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch in the HBO Max medical drama The Pitt.
The series also won Outstanding Drama Series, and Wyle is an executive producer.
“First of all, to my fellow nominees, just having my name included in your company is the honor of a lifetime,” Wyle said in his acceptance speech. “Thank you to everybody at HBO Max and Warner Bros. Television for allowing the conditions to exist for lightning to strike in my life twice. John Wells, thank you for being that lightning.”
He concluded, “And most of all, if anybody is going on shift tonight or coming off shift tonight, thank you for being in that job. This is for you.”

Wyle’s win comes 26 years after he was last nominated for ER. He was nominated in five consecutive years from 1995-1999 in the Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category for his role as Dr. John Carter, but never won.
The lead drama category was one of the tightest races this Emmys season, with Wyle being nominated alongside Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Gary Oldman (Slow Horses), Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), and Adam Scott (Severance).

Wyle’s acceptance speech also wasn’t the first time he’s credited John Wells, show runner and executive producer of ER and creator of The Pitt, for his success.
“I go back to giving all the credit to John Wells, who’s the true godfather of [ER and The Pitt] and has been the sort of mentor figure to me over two of the most rewarding creative experiences of my life,” Wyle said during the HBO Max Nominee Celebration in Hollywood on Aug. 17. “Anything that I’m doing on this is to please him and to stay under his protective umbrella for as long as I possibly can.”
The Pitt season 2 is currently in production in Los Angeles and is scheduled to premiere in January 2026 on HBO Max.
