Harlem Shake’s beloved Mr./ Miss Harlem Shake contest returns with free burgers, cash prizes and community pride

In the pursuit of art, the results should (ideally) never be rushed. Try as people like Matt Stone and Trey Parker may though, there’s always a potential for something like South Park Season 27 to see a hiccup along the way. With the current run of Comedy Central’s landmark comedy already running on a bi-weekly basis, tonight’s scheduled installment is going to be delayed, based on a statement from the creators themselves.

Jumping onto Instagram, the following joint statement was issued to apologize for South Park’s absence from this evening’s airwaves:

Part of me is honestly not surprised by this news; especially with the political climate surrounding Season 27 Episode 2 – “Got a Nut.” After the assassination of right wing personality Charlie Kirk (who was lampooned in said episode), Comedy Central pulled that installment from its South Park broadcast rotation – per reporting from Variety and other sources.

There’s a potential that a little extra scrutiny over the fifth episode of South Park’s new story arc may have held things up. Or, maybe the “last minute” nature of production was held up by mitigating the recent response to “Got a Nut’s” narrative content. Whatever the explanation, Stone and Parker owned up to this latest snag, and did so admirably.

It appears that the same factor that helped Matt Stone and Trey Parker tweak the 2003 episode “It’s Christmas in Canada” to include a reference to Saddam Hussein’s capture has now broken in the opposite direction. New episodes of South Park are expected to resume on a bi-weekly basis, starting September 24th. You can catch those stories as they air on Comedy Central, Wednesdays at 10 PM ET; with their streaming debuts set for Paramount+ the next day.
