Brian Kilmeade wants to move on from his last controversy but his followers aren’t letting him off so easily this time.
On Tuesday Sept. 16, the Fox News host shared breaking news about the Israel–Hamas war.
While speaking with former Secretary Mike Pompeo, he revealed Israel’s plans to expand ground invasion in Gaza City.
Pompeo said, “They’ve been building this operation for weeks getting ready for this.”
“They are going to go chase down every last leader of the Hamas military,” The former secretary explained. “It’s going to be a weeks-long exercise for them to actually chase these folks down and chase them out of the tunnels and then get after them.”
During one of the latest segments of Fox & Friends, the 61-year-old host got himself into trouble during a discussion about the killing of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, a Ukrainian woman who was fatally stabbed on a train in North Carolina.
After finding out that the murderer was reportedly diagnosed with schizophrenia and had 14 prior criminal arrests, Brian had said unhoused people with mental illness should either accept publicly funded programs or be “locked up.”
He added, “Or involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just Kill ‘em.”
The host received immense backlash for his comments. A few viewers had even even put together a Change petition that is titled, “Fire Brian Kilmeade for his harmful comments about homeless people.” The petition now has 13,812 verified signatures at the time of publishing.
After seeing viewers’ responses, Kilmeade issued an apology for his remarks.
He said, “Now, during that discussion, I wrongly said that should get lethal injections. I apologize for that extremely callous remark. I am obviously aware that not all mentally ill, homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion.”
