KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A pair of Kansas City Royals are headed to the injured list to end the season.
Right-handed pitcher Ryan Bergert was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right elbow strain. Manager Matt Quatraro said postgame Wednesday night the injury was suffered while Bergert was throwing his bullpen Wednesday afternoon.
Bergert was acquired by the Royals in a trade deadline deal that brought him and Stephen Kolek from the San Diego Padres in exchange for catcher Freddy Fermin. Since joining the Royals, the 25-year-old has a 1-2 record and 4.43 ERA in eight starts.

Center fielder Kyle Isbel was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a hamstring strain. He was replaced by Tyler Tolbert in center field on Wednesday night in the top of the third inning.
Isbel hit .255 with 4 home runs, 33 RBI and 4 stolen bases for the Royals this season.
In a pair of corresponding moves, outfielder John Rave and reliever Luinder Avila were recalled from the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers. Avila had been optioned a day earlier when left-hander Cole Ragans returned from the injured list.
The Royals have a 76-76 record with 10 games to play this season.
