Taylor Swift announced a release party film for The Life of a Showgirl leading up to the release of her 12th studio album, and fans are totally here for it.
On Friday, Sept. 19, the pop superstar, 35, took to Instagram with the major announcement ahead of Life of a Showgirl’s Oct. 3 release date.
“I hereby invite you to a *dazzling* soirée, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl: Oct 3 – Oct 5 only in cinemas!” Swift captioned her update. “You’ll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video for my new single ‘The Fate of Ophelia,’ along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album The Life of a Showgirl ❤️🔥.”
The “Shake It Off” songstress continued, “Looks like it’s time to brush off that Eras Tour outfit or orange cardigan… Tickets are on sale now. Dancing is optional but very much encouraged 💃.”
To conclude her post, Swift urged fans to check their local theater listings and to snag tickets while they can, as they are limited. Tickets for the film are listed for $12, likely a hat tip to the fact that Life of a Showgirl is her 12th album. The run time is listed at 89 minutes, a possible callback to her 2014 album 1989, and also Swift’s birth year.
On X, Swifties rejoiced over the release party film, with one user declaring, “Taylor always knows how to own a release day.”
Someone else exclaimed, “OH MY GOD I’M SO EXCITED LETS GO SHOWGIRLS,” as a third shared, “YESSSSSSS,” and a fourth commented, “OMFGGGG MOTHERRRR.”
A different X user wrote, “OMG this is so exciting!!! Fate of Ophelia music video?!!.”
“89 minute……. I see what she did there,” another person pointed out via X.
“Swift turning album drops into full cinema events,” yet another X user shared.
Meanwhile, a different Swiftie pointed out, “We already crashed the AMC website 😭.”
On Aug. 12, Swift announced her 12th studio album via Instagram before unveiling the cover and release date on New Heights, her then-boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce.
Not long afterward, on Aug. 26, Swift and Kelce practically broke the internet by announcing their engagement. Celebrities and politicians alike weighed in on the news, including President Donald Trump, the British royal family, Swift’s ex, Taylor Lautner, and more.
