Call Asbury Park rapper Bulletproof Belv the 3 million views man.

His mom helped. Belv’s tribute to his late mother, “Mommas Boy,” is blowing up on TikTok in the United Kingdom and around the world after Brit influencer Carlasbackk used the track in a video showcasing her two teenage sons.

“I’m scrolling and I hear the song and at first I didn’t know how TikTok worked. I thought that someone remade my song,” said Belv, aka James Anderson. “I’m like, that’s crazy. But then someone showed me I had to press the icon on the right and I saw there were 400-something posts of my song where people were using it as backgrounds and I’m like that’s dope.”

“I did it all for you, I hope you’re proud of me. I’m looking in the sky, I hope you’re smiling at me,” rhymes Belv on the mid-tempo trap beat groover delivered with heart.

Bulletproof Belv’s “Mommas Boy” is a viral hit for the Asbury Park rapper.

Belv’s mom, Arlene Anderson of Asbury Park, passed away in 2019 at the age of 63. “Mommas Boy” was partly inspired by an Asbury Lanes act by Belv that his mom attended.

“She came to only one show because she worked a lot — the Asbury Lanes show,” Belv said. “I froze up. I forgot the words to the song we were playing but I said keep playing the guitar and I saw my mother and I started speaking to her and congratulating her on being there and having a son who is doing something and how much I love her and miss her and how I miss my dad. How she stood up and became the head of the household.

“I got off stage and somebody came up to me and said I did a great job,” he continued.

“I said, ‘Nah, I messed up.’

“[They responded by saying], ‘We didn’t know you forgot your words — as soon as you started speaking to your mom the crowd said aww!’ ”

Belv has performed and recorded with top sellers like Fetty Wap and Albee-Al, and his club crossover “Dark City Lights,” with rocker Matty Carlock, has become an anthem for the new Asbury Park music scene.

The track “Mommas Boy” appears on Belv’s 2020 EP of the same name.

The song was produced by Carlock, and the cover features a childhood pic of Belv’s mom.

“For this many people to reach out and listen to it and my other songs and having my mother’s childhood face on the cover — it’s more about they’re getting to see my mother’s face,” Belv said.

Jon Stewart’s band announces show

The drummer for the Asbury Park band Church and State TM knows something about rock ‘n’ roll. He was a bartender at the fabled City Gardens in Trenton, so he saw greats like the Ramones and Bad Brains up close.

We’re talking about Jon Stewart, who has been moonlighting on drums for the Rick Barry-fronted Church and State TM. So far they’ve only played unannounced pop-up shows. That changes with their Friday, Sept. 26, set at the Navesink Library in Middletown, opening for the Mercury Brothers.

Go: The Mercury Brothers and Church and State TM, 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, Navesink Library, 149 Monmouth Ave., Navesink section of Middletown, $20, $10 for kids; thenavesinklibrary.org.

Asbury Park Porchfest

The 2025 edition of the Asbury Park Porchfest will span from the oceanfront to the city’s West Side on Saturday, Sept. 27.

More than 150 music acts on 27 porches will play across the city, Funds raised will go toward Mercy Center, the city food bank that serves more than 3,500 local families a month, and the Trinity Church’s Code Blue program, which provides shelter when temperatures drop below freezing.

NxWorries Why Lawd Tour

The duo NxWorries, featuring Knxwledge, aka Glen Boothe of Jackson and Anderson .Paak, are kind of coming through. Their Why Lawd Tour plays Friday, Sept. 26, at the Brooklyn Paramount Theatre in Brooklyn.

Alas, it’s sold out.

NxWorries, based in Los Angeles, is a hot ticket. The duo won a Grammy for their “Why Lawd?” album in the Best Progressive R&B Album category earlier this year.

Maybe we can get a Jersey homecoming show for the guys before too long? Say yes Lawd.
