The 2025 Global Citizen Festival is taking over Central Park’s Great Lawn this Saturday, September 27, and it’s set to be more than just another star-studded concert.
While the festival is known for its A-list headliners, it’s also tackling global causes – from climate justice to children’s education.
Originally set to headline alongside Shakira, The Weeknd dropped out due to personal reasons – but Cardi B has stepped in to replace them. The rapper, 32, recently announced she is expecting her fourth child – her first with NFL star Stefon Diggs.
“We are incredibly grateful to Cardi B,” said Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans, calling her an “outstanding performer” who will “light up Central Park.
Here are five things to know before you go.
The all-star lineup for the 2025 Global Citizen Festival includes performances by Shakira, Cardi B, Camilo, Tyla, Ayra Starr, and Mariah the Scientist.
Hugh Jackman returns as host for the evening, joined by co-hosts Bill Nye, Adam Lambert, and Danai Gurira. There will also be special appearances from Kristen Bell and Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez.
Tickets are completely free – but must be earned by taking action via the Global Citizen app. Actions include signing petitions, emailing leaders, or making pledges that support global causes.
The festival is cashless and powered by Venmo. Use the app on-site and you’ll get a 10% discount on purchases. From food to exclusive merch, everything is digital.
The official Global Citizen store is live now, where you can pick up some of the best clothing and accessories for the event, featuring eco-friendly collabs with artists like Shakira, The Weeknd, and Ayra Starr.
The festival is going 100% vegetarian, with expanded vegan options, compostable packaging, and partnerships with organizations like RePlate to donate unused food. Even your aluminum cans will go to Brooklyn’s Sure We Can recycling nonprofit.
This is one of the most eco-friendly events in the world. The main stage will be powered by SmartGrid technology, the same system used on Coldplay’s world tour.
Festival-goers are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles, with refill stations set up throughout the park to help cut down on plastic waste.
All the food served will be 100% vegetarian, with plenty of vegan options available too. Packaging and utensils will be fully compostable, and any leftover food that’s still good to eat will be donated to local charities. Aluminum cans will be collected and recycled by Brooklyn nonprofit Sure We Can.
