Two clubs on the outside of the National Women’s Soccer League playoff picture meet on Saturday night, as Bay FC gets set to play host to the Utah Royals.
Both teams are several points out of postseason positions, but they are not entirely eliminated from playoff contention quite yet.

The Royals have a little bit of momentum heading into this match. After winning just one of the team’s first 17 matches of the season, Utah has picked up three victories in the past four weeks, snagging wins over the Portland Thorns, Houston Dash and Racing Louisville. The Royals have earned points in six consecutive matches, dragging the team out of the cellar for the first time this season.
Bay FC has picked up a couple of points in its last two matches, coming to 1-1 draws against playoff contenders in the Orlando Pride and Gotham FC. However, the Bay’s inability to win is what has hurt them, as they have gone winless in 10 straight matches.
Bay FC sits 12th in the NWSL table, nine points back of the eighth-place North Carolina Courage. The Royals are 13th, one point back of Bay.
