Pete Davidson recently reflected on a heartbreaking conversation he had with his mother, Amy Davidson.
Earlier this week, the Saturday Night Live! alum appeared on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast and recounted how his mom gave him a major wake-up call while he was in treatment.
“She’s been the most supportive ever, and it got to a point where she called me when I was in rehab and she was like, ‘My biggest fear is that I will turn on the news and see that my son has died,’” the comedian recalled.
The Staten Island native explained that his mother’s words made him want to turn his life around, as she had never been so direct with him before.

“That killed me, so I was like, ‘Alright, can’t die until she’s dead at least,” he admitted. “I’d have to be a heartless f**king sociopath to not get my s**t together.”
The Bupkis alum — who has now been sober for more than a year — also explained he has a history of “self-sabotage” with the people closest to him.
“Anybody that’s ever actually loved me or cared about me has gotten the worst wrath from me,” he admitted. “You know it’s few and far between, but when it happens, it’s f**ked up.”
“This whole like, ‘f**k you, leave me, like, go ahead, leave me’, they started to, and I was like, ‘Oh s**t you’re calling my bluff, and I love you, and I don’t want you to go away,’” he confessed.
Regardless of the tough times, Davidson — who is expecting his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt — said he’s grateful for his life now, adding, “Thank God that I’m sober and where I am.”
