Prince Andrew‘s eldest daughter may now need to ditch her royal ambitions against her will in light of her mother, Sarah Ferguson‘s, newly exposed connection to Jeffrey Epstein.

Princess Beatrice had reportedly made moves to keep a healthy distance from her father last year to create a better chance at becoming an integral part of the workforce in the royal family.

The king is also quietly nurturing plans to expand the royal workforce to keep business going following the treatments he and Kate Middleton have been receiving for cancer. However, with the jarring revelations about parents, that day may never come.

A source noted to PEOPLE that while Beatrice has earned accolades for her work ethic, and the general belief that she should not partake in the sins of her father, some concerns still abound. In their words:

In the leaked emails exchanged between Ferguson and Epstein, she explained to the convicted sex offender that her public announcement to cut ties with him was all a PR effort. 

As noted by The Blast, the Duchess of York profusely apologized for her statement and proceeded to reemphasize her friendship with Epstein, describing him with endearing words.

Since the shocking revelations were made public, drastic action has been taken against Ferguson and, by extension, Prince Andrew, with counsel advising them to stay away from upcoming royal events indefinitely.

The decision was reportedly made to salvage the royal family’s image, which had already been through a strenuous period with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s drama. Ferguson and Andrew were further advised to take private entry and exit points if they have to attend compulsory events.

Last year, GB News shared that sources close to the princess affirmed that she knows it would be in her best interest to align with the king even if that means cutting her father off.

“Even though Beatrice has landed comfortably by marrying into an Italian aristocratic family, it’s mortifying to have Andrew decimate the family’s fortune and reputation,” another source explained.

Princess Beatrice married her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzo, an English-born Italian property developer, in 2020 and welcomed two daughters, Sienna and Athena.

Princess Beatrice’s First Child’s Unique Name

The 37-year-old welcomed her first daughter in 2021, a year after tying the knot with the Italian. Beatrice took to social media to share the news of her daughter’s birth, while doing a name reveal.

“We are delighted to share that we have named our daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi,“ she wrote, adding that her stepson was beyond excited to become a big brother.

The Blast reported that the Princess of York joined several members of the royal family who have carried on the tradition of naming their children after the delectable monarch. Prince William’s daughter, Princess Charlotte, was also named after the late Queen and the prince’s late mother, Diana.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were born in June 2021, also carried a more upbeat version of the late queen’s name, “Lilibet,“ which was her childhood nickname.
