The Conjuring: Last Rites might not be the best film in The Conjuring franchise, but it was the most successful. The movie made $435.9 million at the box office, which makes it the seventh-highest-grossing horror movie ever.
While we thought it was one of the weaker entries in the series, fans clearly wanted to see the Warrens’ story wrapped up. If you’re of the few who didn’t see Last Rites in the theater, you don’t have to wait much longer.
It was announced that Last Rites is coming to digital on October 7, which gives you plenty of time to watch it before Halloween.
The Conjuring: Last Rites will eventually come to HBO Max, but that’s unlikely to happen before Halloween. Luckily, the rest of the Conjuring universe films are currently streaming.
The Conjuring: Last Rites follows the story of the famous Smurl Haunting, which was a major story all over the country in the ’80s. The story takes major liberties, and there’s something about a haunted mirror that personally didn’t work for me, but people seemed to really resonate with the film. That said, I probably wouldn’t recommend paying $19.99 to rent the movie when you can just watch the other ones for free on HBO Max.
