The post Lola Young Announces Hiatus “To Work on Myself” After Collapsing Onstage at All Things Go NYC appeared first on Consequence.
Lola Young is taking a break from her music career.
The burgeoning British pop star has revealed that she’s stepping away from all previously scheduled professional commitments to address personal issues. The announcement comes three days after Young collapsed onstage just five songs into her set at the All Things Go NYC Music Festival over the weekend.
“I’m going away for a while,” the singer posted to Instagram today. “It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future. Thank you for the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know.”
Young’s collapse came just one day after she pulled out of a scheduled appearance at Audacy’s We Can Survive show at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, citing a “sensitive matter” related to her mental health.
Before her collapse at All Things Go NYC, Young addressed the crowd about her decision to perform at the festival, saying, “Today I woke up and I made the decision to come here. I wanted to perform, and I didn’t want to wallow in my sadness. Sometimes life can throw you lemons and you just gotta motherfucking make lemonade… I really appreciate everyone who’s here tonight.”
Soon after the incident, Young canceled her set at the All Things Go Music Festival in Washington, DC. “I love this job and I never take my commitments and audience for granted so I’m sorry to those who will be disappointed by this,” she explained in a separate post on Instagram.
In the post announcing her break, Young asked her fans not to hold it against her. “I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger,” she wrote. See the post below.
Young had been touring in support of her recently released third album, I’m Only Fucking Myself.
