Knoebels Amusement Resort, America’s largest free-admission amusement park, has new leadership.
In a press release, the family-owned business has announced that Brian Knoebel has been named the company’s fourth president, following a shareholder decision.
Knoebel will succeed his father, Richard “Dick” Knoebel, who served as president since 1988.
“I am filled with a deep sense of gratitude and pride not only for where we have been, but for where we are going,” said Dick Knoebel in a press release. “Brian has grown up with this park in his heart and under his feet and I have every confidence in his leadership, values, and commitment to what makes Knoebels truly special. His vision for the future honors our past while embracing the opportunities ahead.”
The senior Knoebel will shift to the position of Chairman of the Board and President Emeritus for the company. He also extended thanks to his siblings, Buddy and Leanna, for their commitment to the family business.
Brian Knoebel said in the press release that the decision came during “the most emotional meeting I have ever been a part of.”
“Hearing the trust my family has in me and the appreciation they have for the role I play in this organization was humbling and not something I will ever take for granted,” he said. “As I step into this new chapter, I promise to give this everything I’ve got, to do my very best to make our guests, our team and my family proud continuing this timeless hometown amusement resort for generations to come.”
Knoebels Amusement Resort recently took the top spot in the National Amusement Park Historical Association’s survey for best traditional amusement parks.
They also once again took home the award for best wooden roller coaster in the world from the Golden Ticket Awards, and were named the top of the list for Halloween amusement park attractions in the country by USA Today’s 10Best reader’s choice awards.
